Whilst milling around the recent Harrogate Nursery show we saw some fabulous products but one in particular made me have a good old look and that was the SnoozeShade Plus. Now if you haven’t heard of this amazing invention created by the lovely Cara where have you been?
An everyday mum, Cara was fed up of trying to get her baby off to sleep during the bright daylight hours and after continuously trying to peg muslin cloths to the hood of her pushchair or draping blankets over it in order to give her little girl the darkness that she craved to be able to sleep this fabulous mumtrepeneur created the SnoozeShade. The SnoozeShade is best described as a blackout blind that can be used on pushchairs to create a lovely dark and peaceful place to nap whilst out and about for babies and toddlers alike.
Following on from the huge success of the original SnoozeShade Cara created the SnoozeShade Plus; a duel-purpose sleeping aid and sunshade all wrapped up into one tiny yet ingenious product.
With the brighter days and warmer weather quickly approaching we were excited to be sent the SnoozeShade Plus to try out for size. Now I’m not too sure what I was expecting but the package that arrived shocked me as it was so compact. If you’re anything like me then you pack out your pushchair basket for every eventuality even when you’re just popping to the shops so space is a huge issue.
After removing the SnoozeShade plus from it’s very handy netted storage bag it was clear to see how well made this product is. A good old tug highlighted the strength of the stitching whilst a strong pull of the stretchy material assured me that even my little monster wouldn’t be doing any damage anytime soon.
The SnoozeShade Plus features a large mesh window that can be unzipped, rolled down and secured using Velcro tabs to allow your monster to see out when using the product in shade protection mode whilst a fab peek-a-boo zip can be opened to allow you to take a little look at your sleeping monster without disturbing their sleep- perfect for children like my monster who are very easily disturbed.
Our first challenge was to fit the SnoozeShade Plus to our Britax B-Agile. Now I should admit that I did struggle slightly with the fitting primarily due to the fact that the SnnozeShade plus is fitted by hooking the top over the hood of your pushchair and then securing it using the durable Velcro tabs around the frame. The problem I had was that the fabric on the bottom of the seat of the Britax B-Agile is secured between the seat unit and the frame which doesn’t leave even the slightest gap to thread the elasticated Velcro tabs through. However after a little bit of playing and a helping hand from my sister we secured a tab from each side together behind the seat creating a lovely snug fit.
Before I popped the monster into his pushchair I wanted to have a good look at the product in action. Now I probably shouldn’t admit that I got my sister to secure the SnoozeShade to the pushchair whist I sat inside buy how are you meant to know what it’s really like for your monster if you don’t try it out for yourself? Once squeezed into the pushchair it was greatto see how well the product works. With the large mesh window opened it was easy to see out and the peek-a-boo zip could be easily opened with the minimum of fuss and noise. A good pull on the material showed it was going nowhere fast so with a contented mummy it was time to see what monster though of his new gadget.
I won’t lie and say that my dude 100% loves the SnoozeShade Plus as that’s not the case. At 20 months monster is a very nosey child so the thought of ‘missing out’ meant that he wasn’t overly keen on using the SnoozeShade plus when he was wide awake however once he got tired this was a completely different story all together. Monster adored the darkness and peace that the SnnozeShade enabled him to have and dozed off in less than five minutes which is record speed for him and made me a very happy mummy indeed.
I am hugely impressed with the SnoozeShade Plus and the fact that the breathable fabric has been proven to block up to 94% of light, has a UPF of 50+ and blocks up to 80% of UVA/UVB rays makes it a fabulous sleeping aid and a brilliant sun shade for more placid monsters. Who needs to spend 10 minutes trying to reposition a parasol when a SnoozeShade Plus can be fitted in under two?
As a mummy I adore both the protection and comfort that this amazing product affords the little man and think this is definitely a must have baby product for both everyday summer useage as well as for use during trips abroad. Now all I have to do is convince the other half that we NEED to fly away to sunnier climates to really put it through its paces!!!!!
