A review by mummy Amy
Does it sound strange to have an indoor sandbox? Maybe I may seem a little more ‘normal’ when I tell you that Lexis favourite new toy is just 25cm by 25cm wide and 5cm deep and so definitely not a typical sand pit that she can climb in. In fact this fabulous little toy is designed with creativity and role play in mind and has provided her with hours upon hours of fun.

Take a look at the dinky sandbox for yourself
When the little box arrived Lexi couldn’t wait to get 16 month old Rilie to bed so she could help us to review this fab toy, however we thought that 11am may be a little too early to put the little man down. After we eventually put the little man to bed I made plenty of room as I was unsure what was in the box and how much room we were going to need.

On opening I was a little puzzled as to why the box had Velcro on it but all came to light when I read the side of the box and discovered that it could be used to store the sand box in when not in use. What a fantastic idea, I’m always looking for something of decent quality to store the monsters toys in whether it’s a storage box, cupboard or a study carry a bag. That was the first big tick on my long list of likes for this funky toy.

Daddy and Lexi set to work on opening all the little bags which contained

Ultra-Fine Sand
A Shovel and Rake
50cm x 50cm Play mat
2 die-cast Construction Vehicles
Mini Boulders
Bag of Gravel
Safety Cones
Construction Crew
Wooden Building Blocks

Phew I think that’s the lot!

Once all these bags were opened the imaginative play began but before Daddy and Lexi could create a great big mess I laid out the big play mat and placed the sand box on top to stop the ultra-fine sand from disappearing into the carpet.

The sand box is made of good quality wood which makes it a little heavy ensuring that it doesn’t move whilst playing which is great when you have an excited three year old on your hands.

Lexi loved making scenes with the bricks and gravel and it was great to see her imagination and language flowing freely. She had to use lots of hand eye co-ordination and fine manipulative skills to create her masterpieces which to me is a major benefit of this toy. Lexi and Daddy spent hours playing with their new favourite toy and I personally think daddy probably enjoyed playing with the sandbox more than Lexi.

We absolutely love this little sandbox and would highly recommend it to anybody with a monster aged 3+. It’s one toy that Lexi continually asks to play with and her imagination and role playing never ceases to amaze me.

This toy is perfect for those winter days when you’re stuck inside with nowhere to go as it will keep the kids entertained for hours.
Our little family can’t wait to see if Maps Toys bring out any accessories for us to add to our sandbox although Lexi already has the mermaid set eyed up but that may just have to wait till the big red man arrives.

My Little Sandbox is priced at just £24.99 and is available in a range or gorgeous designs including a mermaid set, beach set and a pirate set and can be purchased from AMAZON.

A truly amazing toy that I won’t hesitate to recommend to anybody who is struggling for Christmas or birthday ideas.
